SWGSM Requirements and General Information:

Our work consists mainly of light construction, painting, home repairs, plumbing, and electrical work, on some occasions. Because SWGSM has no funds for work projects, we recommend that at least $200 per participant be raised towards your work project. We call these Work Project Funds when received.

 

    Deposits:
    • $100.00 facility reservation deposit. This deposit is non-refundable if canceled within 2 months of the reservation date. Deposit will be applied to housing charges. Please send the deposit as soon as possible to secure your preferred dates of participation.
    • $100.00 van rental deposit. Deposit will be refunded or used as payment for the van if van is left in good condition and filled with gasoline before departure.

    Work Project Funds Payment:

    • Your Work Project Funds may be deposited in the Office and drawn on as needed. (SWGSM has no funds for projects.)
    • When a work project has been selected and approved, your Work Project Funds can be mailed to SWGSM, P.O. Box 273, Los Fresnos, TX, 78566.
    • Work Project Funds are deposited with our office and drawn on as needed.

    Charges:

    • Dormitories - $11 per person per night
    • Van Rental - $40 per day (Your group pays for gas; van full at departure.)
    • Keys - $5.00 for each key not returned.
    • Payment can be made to the Bayview office at any time during your stay. All charges and key return need to be satisfied before you leave.

    Facilities Available:
    During your stay here at SWGSM, you will have the following available to you:
    • Sleeping area, including pillow, sheets and pillowcase. Blanket available.
    • Kitchen furnished with refrigerators, microwave, coffee pot, utensils, dinnerware, and flatware.
    • Laundry facilities (bring own laundry soap and softener)
    • Dining area (bring own plastic flatware, paper plates, etc.)
    • Chapel
    • Play yard
    • Prayer Garden
    • Trash disposal (bring own trash bags needed for 13 gal. and 45 gal. containers)
    • Trash Dumpster for all trash bags is located outside the main gate.

    Thank You For:
    • Conserving electricity by turning units on low or turning off during your absence.
    • Placing trash in plastic bags in trash containers and putting bags into Trash Dumpster outside main gate.
    • No smoking and/or drinking.
    • Returning items to their original positions when you leave. (Chairs and tables in dining hall need to remain in the dining area

“What-to-Bring” Checklist:

    • $200/person for work projects (if possible)
    • Table settings--Disposable dishes, flatware, cups
    • Larger pots and pans and/or electric cookers for larger groups (We have many smaller pans, etc.)
    • Groceries
    • Bath Towels
    • Personal/Individual Toiletries
    • Toilet paper for all bathrooms used during your stay
    • Trash bags for all areas used during your stay
    • Laundry soap and/or softener
    • Dish washing soap for kitchens
    • Antibacterial soap for all bathrooms used
    • Cleaning supplies as needed to clean showers and/or kitchens used
    • Bug spray (“Off” or equivalent)
    • Proof of health insurance
    • Sun screen
    • Hat to wear for sun shield

And if You are Going to Mexico…..

• If women are wearing shorts, shorts are preferred to be respectable--about to the knee.
• T-shirts with sleeves and that cover mid-riff skin
• Picture I. D. and/or Passport for traveling at border
ATTENTION: You MUST have a passport by JUNE, 2008, to cross the border.
• Water for the entire group
• Lunch supplies for the entire group
• Coolers needed for transporting water and lunch. (We have some coolers for smaller groups, but there may not be enough coolers for larger groups.)
